Note that this is for the first game only (KotOR 1), not the sequel (KotOR 2). I hope to get a pretty good estimate here of what each one is capable of. I do remember seeing some forum threads about it, but everyone seemed to disagree about which was best. I remember asking this question way back when, but I never went through the numbers to see for sure. While playing Knights of the Old Republic, I came across the question of which combat feat is the best. Some of the gems/crystals/etc., can give special abilities to the light sabers, as I recall. The biggest reason for me (and it might be KOTOR 2 bleeding into my memory) is I can customize one lightsaber for one thing and the other for something else. Kotor 2 includes the same two crystal slots as the original but now comes with the option to add a cell, an emitter, and a lens. While the original Kotor only had two upgrade slots, Kotor 2 has five upgrade slots.
